Wait… WHAT?! Why did no one tell me how insanely fun and fulfilling it is to run a business out of an actual storefront? Like genuinely.
For years, I was anti-storefront. I don’t even know why. I think I just convinced myself it wasn’t me or that it would be too much, too complicated, or not worth it. But now that it’s actually happening, people, family, close friends have been calling and messaging me saying things like “Wait, didn’t you say you wanted to open a vintage store six years ago?” And I’m like I did? Are you sure?? But then I remember quitting The RealReal and having this half-formed idea about owning a warehouse or some kind of ecomm vintage hub. And maybe maybe a dreamy space with a giant painted portrait of Princess Diana hanging on the wall (which, honestly, we still might do).
So here I am, officially three weeks into owning Newell Vintage, and I figured, as a fellow vintage lover, you’d probably want the behind-the-scenes scoop. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
